SMS opt-in

Last updated:

Businesses that use CampaignAI can only text people who agreed to it. This page shows the exact box people see and tick, so mobile carriers, reviewers and the public can check it.

1. Where the box appears

Each business publishes its own sign-up page with CampaignAI, under its own name. The form asks for a name, an email address and a mobile number (and, on some pages, a question or message). The text-message box sits right under the mobile number. It is never ticked in advance: the person has to tick it. The wording is set by CampaignAI, is the same on every sign-up page, and the business cannot change it.

2. The exact wording

What the form looks like, for a fictional business called Riverside Bakery:

The text-message box reads, word for word (the business’s own name replaces “Riverside Bakery”):

Yes, Riverside Bakery may text me about my request and its offers. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help.

On French sign-up pages the same box reads:

Oui, Riverside Bakery peut m’écrire par texto au sujet de ma demande et de ses offres. La fréquence des messages varie. Des frais de messagerie et de données peuvent s’appliquer. Répondez ARRET pour vous désabonner, AIDE pour obtenir de l’aide.

Ticking the box is never a condition of buying anything. It covers texts from that one business only — not from CampaignAI, and not from anyone else.

3. What is recorded when someone ticks it

When the box is ticked and the form is sent, CampaignAI records express consent to text messages from that business: the exact wording that was shown, the page and the version of its wording, the language, the date and time, a hashed form of the IP address and the browser. The business can show that record on request, and so can we. People can ask the business, or us at privacy@campaignai.ca, to see or delete it — see our Privacy Policy.

If the box is left unticked, no text-message consent is recorded. Because the person asked the business something, Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation treats the form as an inquiry: the business may answer it for up to 6 months, and the person can reply STOP at any time. Ongoing news and offers by text need the ticked box.

4. Texting a business first

People can also text a business’s CampaignAI number themselves. That is an inquiry too: the business can reply for up to 6 months, and every text still follows the rules in our SMS Terms — the sender is named, no promotional texts at night, STOP and HELP always work.

5. Stopping

Reply STOP to any text to stop texts from that business at once, or HELP for help. The confirmation texts are shown in the SMS Terms.
